As I’ve said so many times, the Data Basin users and community continue to show us how this great tool can be used. Beginning March 3rd, participants of the Forest Park Conservancy’s “All Trail Challenge” will be able to take a map template and create their own updatable trail map showing each segment of trail they’ve completed. Using a highlight tool, they will be able to show where they have hiked and share their map via Twitter, Facebook, Databasin Galleries etc…
Through our relationship with Keen Footwear, we were introduced to the great folks at The Forest Park Conservancy in Portland Oregon (FPC). Their Stewardship Director Stephen Hatfield came to us with an idea for using Data Basin for community outreach. For the past 7 years FPC has held the All Trails Challenge (ATC) where members log miles in the effort to hike all 80 miles of trails in Portland’s Forest Park. Over the years as online communications have advanced, the ATC has involved blog posts, tweets, Facebook posts and other social tools for hikers to share their progress as well as challenge their friends. This year, Stephen wanted to introduce a mapping option.
FPC will launch the ATC at an event hosted by Keen the evening of March 3rd. Data Basin Staff members Wendy Peterman and Nikolas Stevenson-Molnar will
be present to answer any questions from the audience. We hope you take the All Trails Challenge and use our mapping tools to share your adventure this year.
