CalWEA Priority Wind Area Tiers

Dec 3, 2013 (Last modified Feb 19, 2014)
Description:
Working draft of California Wind Energy Association's (CalWEA) March 2013 Priority Wind Resource Area tiers across the Desert Renewable Energy Conservation Plan (DRECP) planning area.

Tier 1 priority areas include both existing projects and active proposed projects. Tiers 2 - 5 are based on wind resources (NREL modeled data) and infrastructure, absent physical and administrative constraints that would preclude development in those areas.

Please see individual layer descriptions for more information on tier definitions and methodology as to how priority areas were determined.
