The Conservation
Biology Institute and the United States Geological Survey created this dataset
in 2013. It was created using San Diego
thornmint spatial distribution information for San Diego County, CA that was
obtained from the following sources: the California Natural Diversity Database
(CNDDB) (2006 and 2013), the Consortium of California Herbaria, the San Diego
Natural History Museum Database of San Diego County Collected Plant Specimens, the
United States Fish and Wildlife Service 5-Year Review for San Diego Thornmint
(2009), and McEachern et al. 2007.
Additional San
Diego thornmint attribute information by element occurrence or population was
obtained from many sources including San Diego thornmint experts, land
managers, consulting biologists, researchers, published literature, review of
summary and status reports, existing geographic information system data, and
the CNDDB (2006 and 2013).
San Diego thornmint
information is displayed using the CNDDB Element Occurrence (EO) number, when
an EO number is available. If no EO
number is available, “0” is used as the identifying number for that San Diego
thornmint occurrence. The following
attribute information is included in this dataset for each San Diego thornmint
occurrence: specific location or name, UTM location and accuracy, element
occurrence status and notes, vegetation community and/or association,
management unit, city, property owner, property manager, annual monitoring,
questions and comments, survey information (year and population size),
identified threats (where provided), implemented management and research
actions (where provided), and references and citations.
