This gallery consists of data sets created from a Master's of Applied Science Thesis completed in 2014. The thesis of the project is that a GIS-based analysis can demonstrate whether conservation easements (CE) have protected Potential Conservation Areas (PCAs) from development along Colorado's Front Range.
The five data sets in this gallery can be delineated into two groups: Buffer percentages for PCAs and buffer percentages for multiple PCAs. The former shows the extent CE's in the study region provide a buffer for PCAs. PCAs are highlighted in color based on the coverage CE's provide their respected buffers.
The latter shows areas where multiple (two or more) PCA buffers overlap. These areas essentially act as de facto wildlife corridors between multiple PCA habitats. In these data sets the buffers are highlighted in color based on the coverage CE's provide them.
