Senior Scientist at Conservation Biology Institute working on the conversion of scientific knowledge into conservation practice. Team lead for Conservation Planning and Management.
I am one of the creators of Data Basin, a science-based mapping and analysis platform that supports education, research, and sustainable environmental stewardship. Interested citizens, students & educators, natural resource practitioners, and scientists from diverse sectors and geographies are using Data Basin to: (a) explore and organize thousands of well documented biological, physical, and socio-economic geospatial datasets; (b) create custom maps, drawing, and analyses; (c) use collaborative tools in groups; (d) publish spatial datasets, maps, and galleries; and; (e) develop decision-support and custom tools.
Previously, I worked as a Science Analyst in the Science Office at the The Nature Conservancy in Arlington, VA (2004 - 2008). I received my PhD from the University of California Santa Cruz, Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology and B.A. in Integrative Biology at University of California, Berkeley.
