Potential source rock (shale) in the Monterey Formation of California

Uploaded by Stephanie Dashiell
Description:
This dataset is the estimated extent of potential source rock (shale) in the Monterey Formation of California. Due to technological limitations and the fact that the source rock is heavily fractured and folded, it is unlikely that hydraulic fracturing techniques used in other parts of the US would be able to be used to develop oil in the Monterey source rock.
