Estimated Water Use (by county) in the United States in 2005

Sep 19, 2012 (Last modified Sep 25, 2012)
Description:
This map layer portrays the estimated use of water in counties in the United States, in the year 2005, represented as graduated symbols. The map layer was extracted from the U.S. Geological Survey Water Resources of the United States water use database, which is a long term data set that documents information on water use since 1950.

This map layer contains information about water use for public supply, industrial, irrigation, mining, livestock, and thermoelectric power, by county throughout the United States.

Data for certain attributes were missing; these were coded as the value 0. For the purpose of map production, counties which contained a value of 0 in the primary display field have been removed  from this dataset (TO_WFrTO: Total withdrawals, fresh, in Mgal/d). For all other fields, a value of zero indicates that data were missing from the original dataset.
