Incorporated cities extracted from the 2019 US CENSUS Bureau incorporated place dataset. An incorporated place usually is a city, town, village, or borough, but can have other legal descriptions. This dataset was created by extracting out just the cities (NAMELSAD like '%city%'). In the NAMESLAD field, cities have the word "city" at the end of the name (e.g., "San Francisco city"). Population values were extracted from the 2017 US CENSUS 5 Year American Community Survey (ACS) database for the state of California and subsequently joined to the cities dataset. The ACS data were downloaded from the following URL:
