- Description:
- Grassland birds continue to be one of the most impacted bird guilds througout North America and the world and have been documented in steep population declines since the Breeding Bird Survey started in 1966. These conceptual models were created in the absence of species specific models to identify and potentially protect habitat and ultimately the bird species that rely on said habitats. At least 22 hectares of compatible habitat >= 0.45 km wide. Compatible habitat includes all grassland and NWI-delineated temporary wetlands. A maximum of 30% of the core area can be made up of seasonal, semipermanent and permanent wetlands.
