This dataset represents ecological districts within Canada. Ecodistricts
are a subdivision of an ecoregion characterized by a distinctive
assemblages of relief, landforms, geology, soil, vegetation, water
bodies and fauna. For example, the Jeddore Lake ecodistrict (no. 473) is
one of five within the Maritime Barrens ecoregion. Ecodistricts are the
smallest ecological unit currently mapped by the Canada Ecological
Stratification Working Group. The largest ecological unit assigned in
Canada (Ecozone) of which each ecodistrict is contained is also included
in the attribute table. Further information on assigned ecozone,
ecoregion and ecodistrict numbers can be found at (http://sis.agr.gc.ca/cansis/nsdb/ecostrat/intro.html).
