This dataset displays the OwlsheadGPS Project Phase II Motorized Route Network.
The OwlsheadGPS Project aggregates official agency OHV route data and converts them into formats more accessible to consumer GPS units, mapping software and online mapping interfaces.
The project seeks to identify OHV routes across the State of California through four phases. This dataset represents the Phase II coverage area reaching from north of Death Valley south to the International Border. It features 6,891 routes totaling 16,728 miles across 28 million acres in Central and Southern California.
Phase II agency data compiled from:
• BLM California Desert District, including the Field Offices of Barstow, El Centro, Palm Springs, Needles and Ridgecrest
• Pacific Southwest Region of the US Forest Service, including the National Forests of Inyo, San Bernardino and Sequoia.
• National Park Service, including Death Valley National Park, Joshua Tree National Park, and the East Mojave National Preserve.
