Verified Geothermal Leases:
Proposed and authorized geothermal lease projects, managed by Bureau of Land Management California. The data was constructed in GIS at the California State BLM Office, using LR2000 legal descriptions, or hardcopy legal information and/or maps sent by the geothermal companies.
The purpose of this dataset is to identify and track the status of the pending and authorized geothermal lease applications on federal lands within the state of California.
Geothermal Leasing Areas:
Lands, including National System of Public Lands, State, and private lands, identified by BLM that are or will be considered for inclusion in a NEPA document to determine if lands open to geothermal leasing should be leased under 43 CFR Part 3200. These lands may include pending geothermal lease applications which were filed with BLM before the enactment of the Energy Policy Act of 2005 (Public Law 109-58). The lands may also include nominations, under 43 CFR 3203.10, by industry for lands requested for competitive geothermal leasing.
The purpose of this dataset is to identify BLM lands that could possibly be open to geothermal leasing.
