Available GAP Distribution Models (http://gapanalysis.usgs.gov/species/) for species listed in the Integrated Science Agenda were converted to binary maps & stacked (i.e. summed) to produce a count in each pixel. From the GAP metadata:
"GAP distribution models represent the areas where species are predicted to occur based on habitat associations. GAP distribution models are the spatial arrangement of environments suitable for occupation by a species. In other words, a species distribution is created using a deductive model to predict areas suitable for occupation within a species range.
"
Species included in this data set include: Red-cockaded Woodpecker, Brown-headed Nuthatch, Bachman's Sparrow, Northern Bobwhite, Pine Warbler, Prairie Warbler, & Gopher Tortoise. In addition GAP range maps were used for Louisiana Pine Snake & Eastern Diamondback Rattlesnake. Pocket Gopher was not included because GAP had no information for this species.
Layers in this dataset are based on combinations of the following options.
