Potential Old-Growth Forest in Southern Appalachian National Forests, USA (1996)

Jun 8, 2010
Description:
This dataset identifies possible old-growth forest habitat in southern Appalachian National Forests. It includes information on forest type and timber management suitability. Old growth was identified in 1996 by the Southern Appalachian Man and the Biosphere Program (SAMAB) under the Southern Appalachian Assessment (SAA), using the National Forest System Southern Region's Continuous Inventory of Stand Condition data. The Conservation Biology Institute (CBI) acquired the dataset with limited metadata in March 2008. Existing metadata and attribute values were revised by CBI using SAA report documents (http://samab.org/saa/saa_reports.html). For more information on how this dataset was developed, please refer to the SAA report documents.
