Population and Disadvantaged Community Metrics

Description:
This layer shows disadvantaged communities, population and population density for each block group within Santa Barbara County, and population density for only urban areas (identified from the DOC FMMP 2016 data layer).

All population estimates and median household income levels were gathered from data provided by the US Census Bureau.

Disadvantage communities were identified by using median household income data for each block group and cutoffs from the Parks for All Californians page available here.
  • Disadvantaged Community - 60% below the CA MHHI
  • Severely Disadvantaged Community - 80% below the CA MHHI
