San Joaquin Valley - Urban Growth Since 1984

Description:
Urban growth since 1984 across the San Joaquin Valley as of 2014/2016 data extracted from the Department of Conservation's Farmland Mapping and Monitoring Program data.

Data for 2016 urban areas included Kern County, Kings County, Madera County, Stanislaus County, and Tulare County.

Data for 2014 urban areas included Merced County, San Joaquin County, and Fresno County.

Urban areas were not available for all counties in 1984 and dates of availability are shown below. Multiple years indicate portions of the county began to be mapped by the Department of Conservation at different times:
  • Merced (1984/1992)
  • Tulare (1986/1998)
  • Fresno (1984/2000)
  • Kern (1988/2004)
  • San Joaquin (1990)
  • Madera (1984)
  • Kings (1984)
  • Stanislaus (1984/2000/2006)
