These
data were provided by the WWHCWG for use in the Washington Habitat Connectivity
Action Plan. The cores are made up of a combination of modeled core areas
(habitat concentration areas) generated by the Washington Wildlife Habitat
Connectivity Working Group (WWHCWG) Statewide Connectivity Assessment (WWHCWG
2010) along with several core areas that were manually added by WDFW species subject matter experts (SME) during the Washington Habitat Connectivity Action Plan
review process. A core area was also added in northern Okanogan County at
the advice of a species SME using data they directed us to found in King et
al. (2020).
I work in my agency's program that focuses on ecosystem and landscape conservation. My position entails developing science-based publications that help guide land use planning decisions and particularly decisions made by jurisdictions all across Washington State.
