Solar PV Projects

Description:
This layer contains polygons representing solar resource for the entire state of California. Grid squares representing irradiance came from NREL’s solar power prospector http://maps.nrel.gov/prospector. Estimated energy production of a typical solar PV plant was calculated for each 10 km grid square. See RPS calculator documentation on CPUC website for more detailed description of energy production estimate methodology http://www.cpuc.ca.gov/PUC/energy/Renewables/hot/RPS+Calculator+Home.htm.

This layer was created by intersecting the SUPERCREZs with county polygons and removing the following:
• EDTF code 4
• RETI Category 1
• Feinstein California Desert Protection Act of 2010/2011
• other factors such as slope

'MW' & 'CF' fields were updated on 04/07/15 to ensure consistency with the “supply curve” in the RPS Calculator Version 6.0
