Description:

A Special Problems Area is a geographical area designated by the County of Santa Barbara as requiring additional County review for proposed development sited within those areas. Additional county review is by the Special Problems Committee which is made up of representatives from Fire, Public Health, P&D Building and Safety, Public Works Transportation & Flood Control. The "Special Problem" is specific to each area being depicted and could be related to issues such as expansive or compressive soils, topography, geology, flooding, sewage disposal, water supply, elevation problems, etc.
