- Description:
Drought Monitor for April 11, 2023
The weekly U.S. Drought Monitor shapefile depicts areas of the United States that are experiencing drought. These areas are derived based on a variety of inputs, including climate indices, numerical models and the input of regional and local experts around the country. The shapefile is prepared through a partnership consisting of the U.S. Department of Agriculture (Joint Agricultural Weather Facility and National Water and Climate Center), the National Weather Service's Climate Prediction Center, National Climatic Data Center, and the National Drought Mitigation Center at the University of Nebraska Lincoln.
