Description:
Vegetation and land cover dataset for Clear Lake NWR. This dataset was created through interpretation of National Agricultural Imagery Program photography from 2014 and 2012. Specifically, 2012 was used as the base year because it is more representative of the "normal" condition than 2014. In 2014 the refuge and region were in the midst of the worst droughts in history and water levels had fallen to record low levels. Interpretation was informed by a field visit in the fall of 2014 and also through consultation with field staff. Additionally, data in the Peninsula unit were improved with field sampled results from the summer of 2010. Because extensive field sampling was not conducted for the entire refuge and no validation was completed for this product, it should be considered as provisional and subject to change.
