California, USA Bureau of Land Management (BLM) National Conservation Areas (NCAs)

Boundaries of the National Conservation Areas in California, as mapped by the U.S. Bureau of Land Management (BLM). The BLM's National Landscape Conservation System contains over 850 federally recognized areas and approximately 27 million acres of National Conservation Areas, National Monuments, Wilderness Areas, Wild and Scenic Rivers, and National Historic and Scenic Trails. National Conservation Areas are designated by Congress to conserve, protect, enhance, and manage public lands for the benefit and enjoyment of present and future generations. National Conservation Areas feature exceptional natural, recreational, cultural, wildlife, aquatic, archeological, paleontological, historical, educational, or scientific resources. The California Desert National Conservation Area was designated by Congress in 1976, and the King Range National Conservation Area was designated by Congress in 1970.
