Texas Rookeries: This is a combination of datasets showing the location of Rookeries in three of the Gulf Coast States, Florida, Texas and Louisiana. There are polygonal areas representing colonial waterbird (gulls, terns, wading birds) rookeries in Texas coastal counties and bays. The data representing rookeries in Texas were defined and digitized by Texas General Land Office personnel in cooperation with representatives of Texas Parks and Wildlife Dept., U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, and the Texas Colonial Waterbird Society.
Louisiana Rookeries: The GIS layer of the LNHP Waterbird Nesting Colony data is based on
centroid point data that has been buffered and includes critical habitat for all
species. These polygons were created using the best available data and were
provided to the GCP LCC for the aforementioned project.
Florida Rookeries: This dataset includes wading bird colony observations made by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, as of 1999.
