500-Year Flood Plain

The area that is expected to be flooded during a flood event that has a 0.2 percent chance of occurring in any given year. This does not mean that the area will only flood once every 500 years, but that the chance of it flooding is approximately 1 in 500 each year. Flood plain boundaries are established by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).
