This dataset has 5 layers that you can view upon opening in a map. These are the five layers::
Trails and Accessible Protected Areas (without digitized trails) - Polyline
This layer was used as a surrogate for all trails and accessible areas with trails or open space in the region.
Trails include all trails mapped by Ray Ford, trails mapped by USFS for Los Padres, and all OHV trails mapped by Owlshead.
Known accessible protected areas that did not have mapped intersecting trails were included by using their boundaries as surrogates for trail lines for the below density analysis. All protected areas within urban dominated areas as identified by FMMP mapping for 2014 were removed to get rid of common protected areas that do not provide high capacity for outdoor activities, such as urban parks, cemeteries, and reserves not open to the public.
Underserved Trail Populations - Raster
This layer was rescaled from 0-1 from a raster calculator addition of trail scarcity and population density. High values within this layer show areas of high population density with high trail scarcity.
Trail Scarcity - Raster
This layer was rescaled from 0-1 from a raster calculator addition of trail density within a 2.5 mile, 5 mile and a 10 mile radius of each cell, and distance from trails with a 5 mile threshold.
Population Density - Raster
This layer was rescaled from 0-1 from a raster calculator addition of population density within a 2.5 mile, 5 mile and a 10 mile radius of each cell.
Population Density - Polygon
This layer shows population per square mile for each block group as identified by the US Census Bureau update from 2015.
