This work was paid for in part by the California Energy Commission, who is tasked with alternative energy expansion in order to meet California’s ambitions greenhouse gas emission goals.
We were tasked with prioritizing areas important for wildlife habitat connectivity within several landscapes in California. Currently mapped are the Modoc Plateau, the Sacramento Valley, and the West Mojave Desert. These landscapes are important for the aforementioned alternative energy expansion. Our connectivity analysis results were then combined, elsewhere, with other conservation factors to answer these questions: what areas should be conserved? What areas are prime for alternative energy development?
