About
PAD-US (CBI Edition)
is a national database of protected fee lands in the United States. The
database portrays the nation's protected areas with standardized
spatial geometry and numerous valuable attributes on land ownership,
management designations, and conservation status (using national GAP and
international IUCN coding systems). The maintenance of the protected
areas data are core to tracking land management and conservation actions
in the US.
CBI has identified
establishment dates for protected areas as a critical addition to our
current database. The addition of this information will allow our users
to conduct temporal protection analysis and provide a metric for land
conservation. Establishment dates are most readily available for
protected lands held by federal agencies. CBI has added a new field to
the database for establishment dates and populated it with dates for
federal lands (including lands held by USDA Forest Service, National
Parks Service, US Fish & Wildlife Service and Bureau of Land
Management).
