This construct of the GCPO LCC landbase contains 6 million acres which includes marshlands in Louisiana and the entire coastline of Mississippi, Alabama and the panhandle of Florida. In this region there is a significant proportion of the northeast Gulf Coast’s marshes, which make up 60% of the total in the continental US. This region extends out 200 miles offshore into Gulf of Mexico waters.
