Southeast US - NRDC Bottomland Hardwood Forest Assessment

About

This gallery contains the spatial datasets and maps presented in the the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) report on the threat of bottomland hardwood (or wetland) forests in the US Southeast from the growing wood pellet industry.  Large and increasing amounts of wood from southern US forests are being processed and sent to feed electrical generating plants throughout the European Union and elsewhere to reduce their dependence on fossil fuels. The NRDC report was heavily informed by mapping analyses carried out by the Conservation Biology Institute.
