Ponderosa Pine Cavity Nesting Birds

About

Four species of birds which nest in tree cavities in ponderosa pine are the focus of this project, between American Bird Conservancy and NatureServe. These birds are Flammulated Owl (Otus flammeolus), Lewis' Woodpecker (Melanerpes lewis), White-headed Woodpecker (Picoides albolarvatus), and Williamson's Sapsucker (Sphyrapicus thyroideus). Data pertains to the breeding range of these birds, their preferred habitat of open ponderosa pine woodlands, general land ownership, and the long term protected status of lands.
