Pacific Northwest ecosystem resilience

About

We will develop vulnerability assessments and on-the-ground strategies to address climate change challenges on the Siuslaw, Willamette, and Mt Hood National Forests as well as adjoining BLM lands. To do so we intend to 1) synthesize available information for the region and conduct assessments of vulnerability and resilience on 3 national forests and adjoining BLM lands; 2) identify areas and species most at risk and where to take action first to limit the negative impacts; 3) expand the regional climate change information outreach by sharing knowledge, tools and methods through a dedicated learning network. The tangible results from our focused project will provide practical examples of climate change-driven actions by local land managers. We will be able to contribute data, tools and narratives as further training materials for a previously funded RISA project (Lach-Peterson) that will ultimately increase the scope of our project.
