Saskatchewan River Basin

About

The Saskatchewan River Basin is a primary focus for Global Institute for Water Security research (http://www.usask.ca/water/). The Saskatchewan River Basin is one of the most diverse in North America, covers 420,000 square kilometres, encompasses three provinces (Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba in Canada) and one state (Montana in USA), and includes some of the longest rivers in Canada. The Saskatchewan River Basin is a critically-important water source for Prairie Provinces and also for the biologically diverse habitants: fish, waterfowl and game. The water basin flow changes distort the production of fish, waterfowl and mammals that depend on aquatic habitat.
