Description
Ben Efraim and I are studying area number six. Study Area number six starts at the barn at Midland School. The area stretches far left and right. This area covers all of the barn, res one, res two, res road, cow troughs, Gina’s house, and more. A part of Jason’s Trail is in this area. This area is mainly used by Gina and the Horsemanship Program. The Res 1 and Res 2 Horse Pastures are where some of the horses live and graze. The barn is used by some of the horses as well, plus Mojo, Maple, and Milo. The Cow Troughs are used by the cattle to hydrate themselves. Res road is used by cross country runners and bikers. Gina’s house is used by Gina. A notable landmark is Hill 37, which Study Area Six is a bit East of. At the barn, there are 3 main plant communities. They are Coastal Scrub, Blue Oak Woodland, and Valley Foothill Riparian. The area boundaries are Res road for the north boundary, parallel to the barn for the east boundary, Horsethief Canyon for the south boundary, and Hill 37 for the east boundary. The Barn is right on the west boundary of area 6. Study Area Number Six is in the Paso Robles Formation. The paso robles formation is weakly consolidated valley alluvial sediments composed largely of Monterey Shale detritus; deposited by streams that drained from rising San Rafael Mountains. From the Pleistocene and Pilocene age. It has Qtp rocks in it.
