This map shows the conservation concerns of Mule Deer concentrations and population expansion. Now, it is weird that Mule Deer are being considered on the west side of the state because they are only found east of the Cascades, but WDFW considers Black Tail and Mule Deer as the same. The only distinguishing factor according to the WDFW is what side of the mountains they live on. There are distinguishable traits but in this study Mule Der and Black Tail are one in the same.
