Description
This map contains results of a draft logic model aimed at depicting relative farmland value for the Columbia Plateau region of eastern Washington. At a high level, the farmland value model is split into two main branches - irrigated farmland and dryland agriculture. Irrigated farmland is defined largely by access to water, soil characteristics, and existing farms. The dryland branch is based on precipitation, soil characteristics, and where dryland agriculture is currently practiced. Exclusions included tribal lands, developed lands, protected areas, and surface water. Please see the attachment that contains further detailed information on how the model was created in partnership with members of the farmland community.
